I've just marked five years of keeping this blog. The milestone prompted me to think about how much time blogging, corresponding, promoting, writing,self-justifying and so on have absorbed of my free time. It has been a wonderful experience, but the very thing that started me on this road has suffered the most -- namely, time for my own drawing.
So I have decided, for an indeterminate period, to take a break from scanning and posting and uploading and monitoring and responding (and I've been pretty lax at even at doing that recently). I will be using that time instead to draw and paint and write and think and learn and be.
I shall keep a bit of a record of how that's progressing on the right hand side of this site, a mini blog within a slumbering blog where I can ruminate on what I am doing and learning with no intention to make a mark on anything but the pages of my journal.
Eventually, I shall probably return, recharged, refreshed, and newly resolved.
In the meantime, feel free to read the 842 posts that precede this one or any of these books. Or better yet, join me in getting off the computer and doing some drawing instead.
Until we meet again, I remain,
your pal,
Danny Gregory

Oh dear, and I had just discovered you less than a month ago. Sigh.
Unselfishly though I can totally understand. I've been off blogging for a year now, after less than 2 years of doing it.
I am glad that I have so much to read on your blog, one book already here and one on the way, and that thanks to you and your podcasts I'm drawing again. Hurray!
All the best to you and your family during your hiatus...

What a smart man you are Danny Gregory. Enjoy. The world will continue to muddle through while you put pen and brush to paper. You have been good to us for a long time. It is appreciated.

Hey Danny -
I've been reading your blog off and on for about three years now. You got me to clean out my rapidograph and have some fun with that. I also have your book The Creative License.
And once again you are inspiring me - I'm off to join you in cutting back on computer time and producing some drawings! :)

Tu as raison danny, tu as raison.

Totally understandable. Thank you for all the hard work you've put into the blog and all the folks who you've inspired.
If you still want to let people know what you're up to, you might be interested in moving to Twitter and then just popping a Twitter feed on your blog. Much less effort.
Best wishes,
Kevin

Your Idea is just right and comes at a perfect moment! Congrats on re-dedicating to drawing but especially- I am Impressed with the support of these fine six commenters who really understand why this is important for You. Often, some of your readers seem to
expect a 24/7 commitment from you and forget to enjoy the spontaneous perspectives which you bring to the blog! I'll be looking forward to the next inspiring jolt form You, Be It When It May! pp

This news makes me sad, but you are a wise man to make this decision. Good luck!
