Very Best Wishes, ![]() Danny, I got home late this evening from running out into the country to see a friend. The mail was all bound up on the table and I didn't look at it until just a few moments ago and it is too late to call and WAKE YOU AND tell you it's too cool. But it is! I think the new book is gorgeous. It's so fun to be in there with all those other journal keepers and to see all the fabulous art that is so different, and to read about their different attitudes. And the book is SO THICK and the price is so reasonable. How can it not be a best seller??? Well of course you know it already is based on what Amazon was saying. So congratulations. What a superbly great thing. I can't wait to delve into it properly. Roz Stendahl ![]() Speechless Brother.... Myself and all my many colleges are geekin out Big time. Great work!! You should sit back and put your feet up. You deserve it. I will speaking at 3 A.I.C.P. Lectures in 09. I will be bringing a big box of these heavy ass books with me for sure..Lol Once again THANK YOU! Keep Rockin! Bryce Wymer p.s. To all the other artists it has been a pleasure to share this moment in history with you. Keep in Touch.. ![]() Hi Danny! I just wanted to thank you for my copy of the book! It is packed with such great insights. It truly is a work of art. I too have been looking for a book like this all my life. Great job! Thanks for letting me part of this project! Christian Slade ![]() Thanks for sendingthe book.. It is really lovely and I'm so honored to be in the company of such great artists. They did a great job with the layout too. I'm hearing lots of buzz around the sketchblog world and wish you the best of luck with it. Thanks again for putting it out there. I hope it inspires lots of people to start journaling. - All the best, Amanda Kavanagh ![]() the book arrived yesterday and I am very happy of my pages!! It is a beautifull book, you were right! I'll spend Christmas holydays reading it, it's really full of treasures. Thanks again for all your efforts, you did a great job. Now I need to dedicate more to my own drawings! You might have experienced the same feeling. Grateful, Simonetta Capecchi ![]() Danny, I just got my copy of 'Illustrated Life.' It really is the best of its kind---so well laid out, with great accompanying text (I've been skimming madly) and a fantastic variety of styles. It is just superb. I'd take off my hat to you, if I had one on. Take care, Laura Frankstone ![]() Hola Danny, As a proud owner of one of your Mutts T-shirts I was overjoyed when your new book arrived yesterday. "An Illustrated Life" is amazing! Hopefully you have been encouraged by other artists to start soon on "An Illustrated Life II". Maybe you could convince Dice Tsutsumi, Joseph Fiedler, Steve Brodner and Pol Turgeon to contribute to your next publication. Again, great job on a terrific book. Adios, Scott Myers ![]() Danny Gregory's book An Illustrated Life is out and I recommend it highly. Lavishly illustrated, featuring revealing pieces by the various showcased artists, this is a must for any serious artist. One of my favorite things in this book is the keyhole stuff: peeks at the artists' workspaces, with sketchbooks piled in bookshelves or on floors. The artists featured are wonderful, R. Crumb (his presence single handedly means this is not a book for kids), Everett Peck, Elwood Smith and more... the art is beatifully reproduced, the colors rich and vibrant. This book is nothing less than a creativity charger. A minute of leafing through this fabulous book equals an hour of motivated drawing. Along with The World of William Joyce, The Invention of Hugo Cabret and The Annotated Alice, this book quickly made my "books for a desert island" list. My only regret is that I'm not in it! Enjoy! Chris Browne ![]() Just received 'the book.' in this evening's post. Wow, it's really lush and packed with so much eye candy. ... so documents what we do and for me maybe legitimizes and verifies our love of what all of us still continue to practice. THANKS so much, Kurt D. Hollomon ![]() Hi Danny: I´ve just received the book.. Wonderful. Very interesting, full on life and well realized. I expected something less complete, less in depth but now I realize the burden you should have been through as coordinating all those images have been a real pain, I guess. I´we written a post about the book http://www.4ojos.com/blog/?p=886 Congratulations and keep on drawing, Enrique Flores ![]() Dear Danny, Thank you, thank you, thank you! It is a truly commendable compilation. You have done an amazing job. Thank you so much for my copy. Hope all's well with you. Be well, Ta ta, Prashant Miranda ![]() Hi, just got the book. it's truly marvelous, I'm quite humbled to be in it! Happy Thanks giving (I think it is now you celebrate it) All the best Mattias Adolfsson ![]() Hi Danny, I've been meaning to write you as well! Here is my blog post from last week about your book- I really do love it so much! I was literally hugging it after I took a look inside of it. The book looks gorgeous, the layouts are perfect. Out of the few books/ magazines that I've had my work in this one definitely represented what I said and my work the best. Thank you so much for asking me to be a part of it, I am truly honored. -Marilyn Patrizio ![]() Hi Danny, "An Illustrated Life" is such a treasure. It is a book that I would be so excited to find in the world -- like you said. It is a book I have been looking for years! I really like how well the questions became people's stories -- I often get little tidbits about people's journals in various other books I've bought over the years, but never a book just about people's sketchbooks. It is so inspiring and well produced and beautiful and, and, and... I can't believe my good fortune to be one of the contributors. Thanks so much for including me, my journal pages and my story. I am humbled to be surrounded by amazing artists throughout the book! It is one thing to send off a bunch of scans, quite another to see them show up in a giant book! The book will be a big hit in our classes as well... We will be sure to put in a plug for it! Your pal, Christina Lopp Schwabecher ![]() Danny, I received your book today and want to say how fabulous it looks. Such a wide range of work all presented in a very nice layout. I am very proud to be a part of it. your intro sets a wonderful tone. Good luck with sales. Thanks so much. Best, Mark Fisher ![]() Hey Danny - thank you so much for the copy of the book. It is friggin' FANTASTIC. I have ordered 20 copies to give away as Christmas presents. I will promote it any which way I can. Congratulations buddy. You done good and I'm proud to be a part of it. Peace in. Trev Romain out. ![]() Man, the book came out amazing. I opened it this morning and spent a long time going through it. It's really great. I'm very happy for you and thrilled to be a part of it. I ordered a bunch on Amazon. Tommy Kane ![]() ![]() I know a letter would be better but I just have to say thank you for all the hard work and patient vision that you poured into An Illustrated Life book. It is a treasure. It has sent some serious ripples of excitement and drawing through the Beerhorst clan. A major victory! Congratulations to you, me and all the artists included. Thankfully yours, Rick Beerhorst ![]() Good morning Danny just to let you know when I returned from my chemotherapy treatment yesterday I found your book had arrived, an extra nice treat to find on a always difficult day, so many thanks. It is beautiful. I haven't read much more than your introduction as yet, you could almost have stopped there, it is enough by itself to inspire anyone to start "an illustrated life". I wish I'd had those words to read many many years ago, I think it would have made a difference, but as I keep saying, you have made such a difference at least in these last few years and I am so grateful. My drawings mean so much to me, especially now. Thanks you always and again and again. I'll let you more more my impressions as I pore though the rest, congratulations on your beautiful book. my best regards Cindy Woods ![]() Dear Readers: |

Danny,
I received my long-awaited copy of An Illustrated Life a few days ago (pre-ordered back in March from Amazon)and am really enjoying all of the different approaches to sketchbook keeping.
Of course, as soon as I tore the mailer open, I voraciously devoured all of the wonderful visual stimuli, flipping through all of the pages to get a good overview. I am now going back and reading through all of the interesting interviews more slowly.I've gotta get my hands on a magnifier so that I can read all of the handwritten print on the images of the sketchbook pages- my over-40 eyes can't read all of that fine print and I want to read it- but I am happy that you included so many pages. Your book is really beautiful and inspiring. I just ordered two more copies for Christmas presents. Love it!

Hi Danny,
I was in Boston visiting my sister who lives in Dorchester. We usually go to the Harvard Coop, where she worked years ago. I love their bookstore. I asked if they had your book. They did. I bought it! I can't wait to read it. Very happy for you and the artists involved. Congrats!
